Part of the WRDS platform! If you have access to WRDS simply search for MSCI within the platform. Researchers needing data to study environmental, social and governance-related business practices of companies worldwide will want to investigate these datasets. The MSCI GMI database dates back to 2001 and provides annual data on: corporate board structure and independence; director positions and committee assignments; CEO compensation; director compensation; audit fees; and takeover defenses. The MSCI ESG KLD (STATS), initiated in 1991, is an annual data set of positive and negative environmental, social, and governance performance indicators for five universes of publicly traded companies. Universe A consists of 650 US companies and covers 1991-2013. Universe D consists of 2400 US companies and covers 2003-2014. Universe E is made up of 2600 non-US companies and covers 2013 – 2014.
